Dermal Fillers

From our Manchester clinic in Hale, Cheshire, Mr Giuseppe Fiore offers not only the most effective and safe surgical procedures to revive and revitalise your face, but a range of non-invasive techniques, if surgery is not yet necessary or desired. One such treatment is facial rejuvenation using injectable, temporary dermal fillers, which contain hyaluronic acid (HA).

Dermal fillers come in a wide range of thicknesses and textures and can be used to add volume to sunken areas of the face or to areas such as the lips, to define, shape and sculpt (nose re-shaping, jawline augmentation) to add hydration to the skin. Mr Fiore uses JUVEDERM® from the pharmaceutical global organisation, Allergan. These dermal fillers have been meticulously tested, FDA approved and are considered one of the most safe and effective brands in the world.

Am I suitable for dermal fillers?

If you are experiencing the first or advanced signs of ageing, if you are feeling that your face is not as youthful as it once was, if you’re seeing areas of loss of volume such as in the temples, lower cheeks or around the eyes, if your lips have thinned and are showing light or deeper wrinkles around the edges, or if you have a misshapen nose or a weak jawline, the chances are that dermal filler injections could offer a significant improvement.

Before any treatment can take place, it’s important to attend a no-obligation consultation with Mr Fiore in our Hale cosmetic clinic. He will assess your facial features, check your medical history and design a bespoke treatment plan for your individual requirements.

FAQ

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE A DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT?

Depending on the specific indication to be treated and how much treatment you require, the procedure may happen all in one session or may take several visits to the clinic to complete (especially if Mr Fiore is conducting a full fluid facelift).

Before the treatment, a topical or injectable anaesthetic may be used. Most dermal fillers now contain Lidocaine, a liquid injectable anaesthesia, so prior pain killing injections will most likely not be necessary.

Once you are comfortable and the anaesthetic has taken effect, Mr Fiore will begin. As he treats you, he will explain at each stage, the area he is treating and the products he is using so you have a deep understanding of what is happening at every step. Once the procedure has finished, Mr Fiore will explain any aftercare precautions that you need to take and the reasons why.

DO DERMAL FILLERS HURT?

Like all injectable treatments, if delivered without the right techniques or appropriate pain relief, there can be an unpleasant sensation. However, JUVEDERM® products contain Lidocaine, an in-built anaesthetic. Mr Fiore will also use a topical anaesthetic if required and uses the most innovative and skilled techniques, equipment and products, so that any discomfort is minimised.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME OR SIDE-EFFECTS WITH DERMAL FILLERS?

After your treatment you can go back to work or your usual daily activities, ensuring that you follow the correct aftercare protocols set out to you by Mr Fiore. You may however, experience some slight swelling, bruising and tenderness in the treatment area. You may find you experience some slight bruising but this should be minimal, as where possible, Mr Fiore will use a cannula – a blunt ended needle which glides around blood vessels, thus minimising any risk of bruising in the treatment areas. After a few days, you should be able to see the optimum results and any bruising and swelling should have diminished.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS FROM A DERMAL FILLER TREATMENT?

As most dermal fillers act as immediate plumping and volumising agents, you will see results immediately. After around 2 weeks however, you’ll see the final result; when any swelling has subsided and the product has settled in to the treatment area and softened. At this point, you can return to us in Hale for a follow-up appointment and top-up of dermal filler if necessary.

HOW LONG DO DERMAL FILLERS LAST?

The results can last between 6-18 months and this depends of several factors. Skin quality, lifestyle choices, environmental factors and the type of dermal filler used can all determine the longevity of results. However, in your pre-treatment consultation, Mr Fiore will be able to give you an estimate of how long he thinks it will be before you require another treatment and how to maintain results for longer.
